What is baptism?
Baptism is the outward (public) testimony of what has occurred inwardly (in the heart) in the believer's life. Baptism illustrates the believer's identification with Christ's death (going under the water), burial (being under the water), and resurrection (coming out of the water). It illustrates the fact that our old life of sin is dead and that we now have a new life in Christ. (Romans 6:1-11) Why do we baptize people? Because Jesus commanded it. (Matthew 28:19) Who can be baptized? Anyone that knows Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:9-10) Why is it so important? Baptism is important because it is an act of obedience to God. It is the public proclamation of one's faith in Jesus Christ and his/her commitment to Him. I want to be baptized If you want to be baptized, we do baptism Sundays every time someone gives their life to God. Please contact the church and a Pastor will be available to answer questions. |
